Hello, Sweet humans!

I know the last time I sent an update, I was lying on a wood floor surrounded by twenty one other humans as we navigated returning to the States after visiting Costa Rica. What an awesome memory.

A lot has happened since I was woken up at two am in the morning by kind Delilah leaving for the airport. Currently, I am back in Illinois living life to the fullest, haha. I’m working in the local emergency room as a technician while simultaneously pursing an associate’s degree for paramedicine. Well, that’s enough on the life update, I would love to share a cute moment that occured recently.

The other day, I was sitting in my local coffee shop next to my compassionate boyfriend. As we were sitting, there was a man and his daughter sitting at the table behind us. They were in a competitive game of Uno as she was playing her best cards while trying to win the match. Compelled to not let his cute sevenish year old daughter take the win, her father responds in the same way by playing the best cards.

I glance over and smile, because I am drawn towards the simplicity of the moment but also the fact that I was intrigued by who was winning. Eventually, I hear the father say, “Well, that’s a game,” as he takes the win for the round.

She asks a question as she is perplexed about how the game could end so soon, but their conversation then drifts to other topics such as their dinner plans, where they would go next, etc.. While they are talking, they soon begin to gather their cards to put it up and leave. While the father is getting up to return the borrowed card set to the cafe game stack, his daughter says, “Wait, dad! I’m still putting on my shoes!” to which he responds, “I know, I am setting this here and coming back.” He then proceeds to return back to the table. They then leave the cafe, hand in hand, as she confidently walks in a bright yellow dress and tennis shoes.

I don’t have an overly spiritualized moment for this, but I thought I would share to say, I’m back in the states and I’m still seeing the simplicity and practicality of following Jesus. Whether it’s sharing a coffee with my boyfriend, listening to a father and daughter talk about random moments, or listen to a barista share their opinion of the best drink.

Until another moment,

One response to “Simplicity, my Friends.”

  1. Ellieee I love reading your heart and your perspective.
Sometimes we wait so long for something that is “blog” worthy that we miss the “little” moments God is trying to show us. He is always moving, we just need to be more aware of it.
    You are aware!!!
    Thank you for sharing.
